Smoking doesn’t just affect you. It has a big impact on the other members of your household. For example, children living with smokers have three times the risk of getting lung cancer in later life compared with children who live with non-smokers, and double the risk of chest conditions including pneumonia, croup (swollen airways in the lungs) and bronchitis.
The NHS Stop Smoking Service is a national network of advisers with special training to support you in kicking the habit. The service also helps you access the appropriate treatments, such as Champix (varenicline), Zyban (bupropion), or nicotine patches.
